Topography Data Viewer

If you double-click in the data browser onto a list item's preview image or filename the topography data viewer will open for two-dimensional topography files:

The window is separated into several regions:

  1. (A) shows all measurement properties that could be extracted from the file header.
  2. (B) shows the comment entered during measurement by the user.
  3. (C) if the tab "plot of data" is selected (default) the color plot of the two-dimensional data is shown. The properties and filters can be changed by the buttons in the upper left an right corners.
  4. (D) this sidebar is open if you hover over the "plot setup" button in the top right corner. You can select the value range in this plot.
  5. (E) is the toolbar that contains analysis tools for this image. E.g. a line-profile extraction tool.
  6. (F) if this tab is selected the extended comment editor is shown. Here you can add additional comments, that are stored together with the file.

A right-click on the image will open a context menu, where you can copy the color plot, or save it to a file.

Plot Properties and Filters

The plotted data and the color scheme be changed via the sidebar opened by hovering over the "channel"-button in the upper left corner of the plot. Also you can add image filters here.

The value range of the plot can be changed via the side-bar opened by hovering over the "plot setup"-button in the upper right corner of the plot.

Both side-bars are shown below:

In the "channel"-sidebar you can change the plotted channel, and apply filters to the data, such as plane or line substractions. You can change as well the color scheme used for the plot.

In the "plot setup"-sidebar you have access to the plotted value range. The histogram shows the value distribution in the plotted data. You can change value range by entering the values manually, or by setting the boundaries with the mouse. A left- or right-click will set the minimum or maximum value of the plotted range, respectively. With the "sigma"-button you can adjust the plotted range so that the plotted values lie in the range of the standard deviation times the factor defined by the number below.

Tools

In the toolbar on top of the image you will find tools that deal directly with the currently plotted data.

Line Profile Extraction

If you activate the line-profile extraction tool, you can draw a line on top of the image.

SpectraFox will open a new window, which shows the extracted data.

This window shows all information with respect to the two selected points, such as their positions and relative distances to each other.

If the data-quality of the line is not good enough, you should increase the number of points SpectraFox uses to extract the line-profile from. Typically 100 is a good value.
